“Falling apart wasn’t an option” – Lissa Price, Starters
Published in 2012, Starters (book 1 of the Starters duology) tells the story of 16-year-old Callie. She’s a girl who’s lost her parents when the bio-chemical war knows as the Spore Wars wiped out everyone apart form Starters (those aged under 20) and Enders (those aged over 60). Unable to legally work until she’s 19, Callie and her 7-year-old brother and effectively asylums in their own land…
- This genres of this book are dystopian and ‘speculative fiction’
- It’s interesting to see how society changes after the only ones left in it are people who are very young or very old…
- The main concept of this story is very, very interesting. As Starters are unable to work yet, to survive some of them go to what is known as the Body Bank. There, Starters receive free make-overs to achieve the ‘perfect body’ before renting out their bodies to Enders (who desperately want to be young again). And so, Enders get to live in the young, beautiful bodies of Starters for however long they pay for…
That actually sounds really interesting. I might need to add that to my read list. Thanks for sharing.
