“Ariel, listen to me. The human world is a mess.” – Sebastian, The Little Mermaid
- It was expected that Snow White would be a massive bomb in the cinema. However, it ended up being a success much to everyone’s surprise. (Disney had to actually take out multiple loans to finance the movie because he couldn’t get the funding, even mortgaging his own house to do so)
- Dumbo is Disney’s shortest film at only 64 minutes long
- Jackie Chan voices Beast for the Chinese translation of Beauty and the Beast. He does the singing too!
- Robin Williams recorded Genie’s lines up to 20 different ways. Williams didn’t have a ton of time to spend on recording sessions so he just performed each line in as many different styles as he could create during the sessions he had. The staff then decided later which versions of the lines they preferred
- Before ‘Hakuna Matata’ was conceived, in its place was a song about eating bugs called ‘He’s Got it All Worked Out.” However, it was decided that this particular song was a bad idea and they got rid of it. It was then, after the research team returned from their trip to Africa with the phrase ‘Hakuna Matata,’ that the song was written
- In the original script of Peter Pan, Nana travelled to Neverland with the kids – as she was going to be the film’s narrator
- Each scene in Pocahontas has been rewritten at least 35 times. The writers for the film worked off of a specific story line, though they changed scene over and over until they had the best possible one they could create
- EVE was co-designed by Apple’s Senior Vice President of Industrial Design – Jonathan Ive. Ive is the man responsible for designing the iPhone, iMac, iPod and iPad
- Eddie Murphy was almost offered the role of Timon in The Lion King. Sean Connery was also considered to voice Mufasa. And interestingly, Nathan Lane and Ernie Sabella, who voice Timon and Pumba, originally came into the studio to audition for Hyena roles
- The voice of Bambi become a war hero after his young voice acting days. Donnie Dunagan served in the Marines for 25 years, is a decorated Vietnam war veteran and has received awards for his service to his country
- Up until Brave was released, in which Merida has siblings, Ariel was the only Disney princess to have any
- Jeffrey Katzenberg, a previous chairman of Walt Disney Studios, wanted to scrap ‘Part of Your World’ from The Little Mermaid. The story goes that when they were showing the movie to their test audience, a kid spilled his bucket of popcorn during the song. From this accident Katzenberg determined that the child must have been so bored that his motor functions ended up shutting down and that this is why he dropped his popcorn. However, the rest of the staff fought against Katzenberg because they wanted to keep the song in the movie
- There are 64 difference animal species featured in Zootopia
What? Part of your world was one of the best songs after Sebastian’s solo songs! How could he even suggest such a thing??

Ikr?! But you know… the kid did drop his popcorn bucket… So it MUST have been boring. It can’t be because he’s clumsy or just accidentally knocked it over. It just can’t be.

Or it’s just a bad batch of popcorn really!

Yep, it could have really been anything! I feel like Katzenberg must have been really stressed or something of the like and then this happened and he overreacted badly to it…

Disney has many issues but at least their stories are mostly lead by females, which back then was like finding an unicorn in a forest.
Jackie Chan truly the mvp for doing VA and singing dang 👏👏
Robin Williams is so amazing, I’m still sad he left us 😦
What has Disney against family and sisters shsjsh 😹
That’s the stupidest reason to try to remove a song from a movie, maybe the kids hands were simply greasy from the butter in the popcorn, it’s not that deep smh.

Jackie Chan is just amazing and has my upmost respect.
Same… Williams did so many awesome things!
And there’s no family because if there was then the characters would be stopped from doing half of the things they do, and then there’d be no movie XD

That’s true about the families, but it’s also sad when most of their characters are all orphans just for the sake of plot 😹😹😹

Yeah he did! On most Mulan discs under ‘extras’ there’s also a really cool video of Jackie Chan singing ‘I’ll Make a Man Out of You’ 😀

Pocahontas has to be one of the most underrated Disney films.

Hmm probably… Though I do feel like the storyline is a bit of an either you like it or you don’t one…

All those animals in Zootopia … but I don’t think that I saw any lizards. That struck me as a shame.

But… what would they have looked like? It definitely would have been interesting to see!

At a guess, I would think they’d look like Rick from the Savestate webcomic 😀

Katzenberg also pushed hard for Pocahontas wanting another Oscar nod after Beauty and the Beast, but the movie bombed. Hard. haha

I swear Katzenberg must have been so embarrassed to push for these sorts of things and see that the final result is like, the opposite of what he thought…

It’s even more embarrassing since Lion King became the more popular movie. Some animators are often “punished” by being put in the Lion King production, while others are begged to be with Pocahontas knowing it’d be big. They were all wrong. hahaha

Hahah this is just too funny!
Now I really want to know who came up with the idea that Pocahontas would be bigger than The Lion King?!

i’m sure their heart was in the right place.
they got a second chance, since Moana is kinda a soft reboot of Pocahontas

Yeah they would have wanted what was best for the movie 🙂 And yeah! I suppose they did in a way!
