“I’m sure Howl won’t eat the heart of a shrivelled old lady like me.” – Sophie, Howl’s Moving Castle

Sophie. Her story revolves around her developing confidence, realising her worth and all that other good self-esteem related stuff. She’s a character who knows her weaknesses, much like we all do. But actually has some amazing qualities which she learns to recognise within herself. The doubt she experiences of herself though I think we can all identify with (at least to a certain extent or at least within different situations people have been faced with).

  1. Merlin says:

    Hmmm… no idea.

I once picked Usopp from One Piece as the character in anime I’m most like, but that was because I couldn’t think of one better. The one character I’ve seen on screen, ever, that most reminds me of me is Rumpelstiltskin from Once Upon a Time (the earlier seasons, at least). Somehow, I can’t think of a Rumple equivalent in anime or Ghibli.
